Dear Northwest District Colleagues,

 

I hope that your school year is off to a great start and that your students are preparing for their upcoming honor jazz band auditions!

I am looking forward to a great group being selected for the jazz band this year.  Our clinician for this year will be Clint Ashlock, from the Kansas City area.   

Last year we didn’t receive very many auditions for the rhythm section.  So please encourage your students that are talented on those instruments, to make an audition tape/CD. 

Here are few things to remember as you are recording and submitting your student’s auditions: 

            **Please use an audible metronome for the chromatic scale only (Slur up, tongue down - Quarter note = 120). 

            **Please use the tracks with the backgrounds for ALL other etudes that you record.  If you don’t have the background tracks, please e-mail me or talk with another director from a neighboring town. 

            **There is a new audition form on the website to complete and send in with your auditions. 

            **All audition tapes/CD’s must be postmarked by September 23

rd.  Please mark each CD/cassette with a removable label containing student’s name, instrument, and school.  Please mail to:
