2009 Outstanding Music Educator

Chris Richmond, Wamego

Chris Richmond, instrumental music teacher in Wamego, Kansas, is the 2009 KMEA Outstanding Music Educator. Chris was nominated and chosen as the North Central KMEA District Outstanding Music Educator. A stellar teacher, Chis has made KMEA an important part of his career. He served as the North Central District KMEA President, and at the time of this award served as co-chair for the KMEA Recruiting and Retention Committee. In that capacity he and his committee developed a nationally-recognized on-line New Teacher Handbook (www.ksmea.org/mentoring/handbook) to encourage and mentor teachers in their first few years in the profession.
