KMEA Awards

The purpose of the KMEA Awards program is to provide recognition of the outstanding efforts made by many past, present, and future KMEA members.

The award programs currently administered by the KMEA include:

  • KMEA Hall of Fame
  • KMEA Honor Administrator
  • Outstanding District/State Music Educators

These awards are presented each year at the state-wide In-Service Workshop held in Wichita. You are encouraged to nominate any individual who meets the required qualifications and who effectively represents our profession.

Noteworthy Achievements of KMEA Members

  • John Taylor - Served as NAfME Southwest Division President (2011-2013)
  • David Circle - Named as the NFHS Section V Educator of the Year (2010)
  • Robert Lee - Named to the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame (2005)
  • Ron Chronister - Served as MENC Southwest Division President (2005-2007)
  • David Circle - Served as MENC National President (2005-2007)
  • Sue Tiffany and the Victor Ornelas Elementary School, Garden City. MENC Oscar Meyer School House Jam Talent Search Contest Winner: Prize - $10,000 (2002-2003)
  • Gayle McMillen - Served as MENC Southwest Division President (2001-2003)
  • Don Corbett - Served as MENC National President (1986-1988)
